Responsibilities & Qualifications

Reports to: Prefabrication Shop Manager
Based in: Norwood, MA

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for designing instructions of electrical assemblies and maintaining a database of assemblies for data and future use.


  • Create detailed electrical assembly designs using software
  • Develop “build books” to instruct prefab team on how to build the assemblies
  • Assist Prefab Shop Foreman with ordering materials, scheduling and executing builds
  • Stay in communication with Shop Foreman to ensure builds are being assembled as intended and identify any deficiencies
  • Capture data on how long builds take so we can use that information to set realistic targets for shop team, assist with shop schedule, and help improve accuracy of our project estimates
  • Help foremen with any questions or issues with prefab installation on jobsites, especially pertaining to the design of the assembly
  • Participate and help lead in continuous improvement (LEAN) initiatives; Continually strive to find new and more efficient means and methods to use in the Prefab shop. Learn from feedback given to by Foremen, project team and shop team
  • Build a database of designs to refer to for future projects/installs


  • High school degree required
  • Previous electrical experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience and/or interest in designing/drawing on the computer
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Quick learner and able to work independently
  • Ability to identify issues and create solutions
  • Ability to break down tasks into logical steps and pay attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills – verbal, written and active listening – that promote “working together”
  • Ability to do repetitive work for long periods of time
  • Software: MS Outlook, BlueBeam
